Emergency exit management, safer premises and quick, easy evacuation
An emergency exit allows people in a building to evacuate quickly to the outside in the event of a fire or other emergency
Every building has a minimum number of exits leading to the outside.
They are generally associated with the term “clearance”, which refers to the part of the building that allows occupants to evacuate (corridor, door, stairs, etc.).
Emergency exits carry special signage to distinguish them from conventional doors: a green panel with a dedicated and regulated pictogram, fitted with emergency lighting capable of functioning in the event of a power failure.
Evacuation maps throughout the building make it easy to locate them.
Don't neglect personal safety or the protection of your property
Centralised management of emergency exit
To limit the risks and comply with fire safety regulations, the doors are fitted with a DAS (Dispositif Actionné de Sécurité) lock. This electromagnetic lock is opened and closed by a centralised emergency exit management unit (UGCIS).
Doors as access contro
Apart from high-risk moments when doors need to be opened to evacuate people, emergency exits represent a passageway that is ideal for intruders. This is why it is necessary to manage their use on a daily basis to prevent access from the outside (intrusion, malicious act) and to discourage misuse in the direction of exit (theft).
Three ways of opening door
Emergency unlocking can be done in one of three ways:
- By activating the fire safety system for general evacuation
- By manual activation of a green release placed near the door for immediate opening
- By local action of the DDO (request to open device), located near the exit. Door opening is then subject to validation by the remote security service.
Emergency exits within an SSI
Evacuation doors and the management of their opening/closing is an integral part of an overall fire safety system (FSS). Watch this video to see how all the solutions work together when a fire is detected.
